Is This Too Ninja?

I was thinking of getting one of these....

For my running buddies to the NORTH: Do you wear one of these? How cold does it have to be to need it? I trained short distances in Jan-Feb last year. This year it will be 10+ miles at a time. In Tennessee, we get into the teens---I'd say 8-10 will be the lowest low. The wind chill frequently gets into the single digits and even negatives occasionally, however.

I'd like to be warm on those long runs, but I don't want to look like a complete dork/ninja/cat burglar while doing so! At least it comes in white (very fencing-attire looking), red, and navy besides ninja black.

I don't know.... is it OVER THE TOP? (ha ha good pun)

that is so funny......my hubby came walking up as I was reading and he said "Wow, Ninja" then realized the titled of your post. He laughed.. well so did I. I have been thinking about getting something similar. If you do get it, let us all know what you think.

LOL! I've never run in one, as I tend not to run outside if it's much below freezing, but I know some of my friends who bike use them and like them.

I have that very UA balaclava and I like it. It's very lightweight so if you've got it up over your nose and mouth you won't feel like you're suffocating. If you find that it's getting too hot you can easily stuff in in a pocket and it takes up very little room. Conversely, if you think you may need it and don't want to put it on right away...you can quickly haul it out of your pocket and stick it on your head.

I only wear mine when it's extremely cold and the wind is howling. I wear a hat over top to keep the heat in.

Hey, if it's cold and someone sees you running in this thing they'll understand. For the $20 price tag (probably cheaper in TN) it's well worth a try.

This made me giggle... I live near Toronto in Canada and sometimes it can be pretty cold. I have never worn anything like this and yes, I would probably feel like a ninja (in fact, I think my son might have one of these... :) I have worn one of my son's hats once that went around my head and I hated it - i got too hot and it drove me crazy.

That's my thoughts but I would definately like to hear how someone else enjoys it! :)

I'm with Runner Mommy. In Ottawa (just a bit north of Toronto), it rarely gets cold enough to cover my face. I tend to go with a sweat-wicking toque and a neck warmer when it's really cold. My husband wears a headband. Everyone's different though, and feels the cold in different places.
